Somerset & Bristol Half Day Workshop

Course Dates: Open, please get in touch to arrange a date that suits.

The Course: This is a half day course based in my own back yard. Because I know this area so well, we will have access to a wide range of subjects in both city and rural locations. We will meet at my house for an introductory tutorial and after tea and cakes, we'll head out to a couple of locations to practice what we've talked about. I'll be on hand to give individual guidance in the field and as the group size will be limited to 3 guests, there will be plenty of 'one to one' time.

The Area: Bristol is an ideally situated small city with plenty of charm. It features, amongst other things, quirky rows of multicolour terraced houses and the elegant suspension bridge designed by I.K. Brunel. It is also surrounded by the rolling landscape of North Somerset with the Mendip Hills a short drive away and if that wasn't enough, there are amazing coastal mudflats and a stunningly restored Victorian pier at Clevedon.

14:30 - Meet at my house in Bristol for an introductory tutorial and informal chat. See Contact page for address.
15:30 - Tea and Cake and review of your photography.
16:00 - Depart for afternoon location shoot.
17:30 - Move to sunset location shoot.
19:30 - Return to my house/your parked car.

What to bring:

Camera equipment. Bring whatever you use, be it film or digital. I only ask that you are familiar with your own equipment. The only other essential piece of kit for landscape photography is a tripod.
All weather clothing. We cannot control the weather but I believe there is always a good shot to be had, whatever the weather. If it is pouring with rain, we may not be spending as much time outdoors but we'll certainly be popping out for a couple of shoots so it is important to make yourselves comfortable and to keep your camera dry. Bring an umbrella or thick plastic bag for your camera. Sturdy shoes, walking boots or wellies would also be ideal as we may be walking a little way over muddy beaches.
