I often present photographic talks to camera clubs and organisations around the UK. Packed with useful tips and example photographs in a digital slideshow, these talks will hopefully inspire the audience to try new things and improve their own photography.

If you would like me to present a talk at your club, please get in touch. There are three themes to choose from as follows:

Talk 1: Mud & Sand

The first half is all about my latest project photographing the unusual landscape of the Bristol Channel coast. I'll talk about the benefits of photographic projects and how this one helped me break out of a style rut and start enjoying the creative act of photography once more. Copies of my latest book, Mud|Sand, which accompanies this project will be available to purchase and I'll happily sign them if you want me to.

In response to popular demand, the second half is a candid practical demonstration of some of my core post-processing techniques using my ancient version of photoshop.

"You showed there is great value and excitement to be had in seeking out landscape views that do not conform to the normal expectation of what is beautiful. We also very much enjoyed the second half, where you took us through some simple techniques to transform images without leaving the transformation to a bunch of algorithms" Sarah Robbins, Backwell Camera Club.

Talk 2: Wild West Country

This is essentially a location guide of some of the best places for landscape photography in the South-West. At the same time though, there are plenty of pointers on composition and digital techniques.

Wild West Country

The presentation is delivered in two halves about 40 minutes in length. Questions (and heckling) are welcome throughout. It also features many images from my first book 'Somerset and Bristol' released in February 2013. Copies will be available to purchase and can be signed on request.

"Thank you for a really good evening. Your talk was delivered with fluidity and enthusiasm and your approach to composition was a breath of fresh air...." Geoff Wood (Hon. President), Bath Photographic Society

"What a super presentation you gave us on Wednesday, it went down very well with our members. I know that you have set many of them thinking about their landscape work..." Mike Bews (Programme Secretary), Bristol Photographic Society

"It is a pleasure to write and thank you. I think you had everyone spell bound with your amazing photography and the exceptionally interesting way you described your thought process when capturing an image. Your work is exceptional, so thank you for a memorable evening." Patricia Meakins (Programme Secretary), Bath Photographic Society

Talk 3: The Art of Landscape Photography

This talk is primarily about my approach to landscape photography, which is based on three key ingredients: Composition, Light and The Digital Truth. The thoughts and processes behind a selection of images from the UK and other parts of the world are explained openly.

This talk is also presented in two halves, each about 40 minutes in length. For booking enquiries, please contact me.
