Doynton House is a listed 17th Century house with several garden areas defined by hedges and historic walls. A serpentine tree-lined driveway winds its way through the main lawn to the front door. Meanwhile, a walled Long Garden stretches from the back door down to the impressive peach house and greenhouse, and a door in the wall leads to the Rill Garden and the walled Kitchen Garden. There is also a small parterre near the house and a wild area beyond the wall where the spoils excavated for the pool have been sculpted into a piece of land art. The head gardener works with the owners to manage the gardens in a wildlife friendly way with lots of pollinator friendly planting, and herbaceous structure left standing through winter as habitat. The result is an elegant garden that sits comfortably in its wider rural landscape.
